Full Itinerary
DAY 1: ARUSHA TO LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK
We shall leave the lodge after breakfast for a drive to Lake Manyara National Park. Bird-watchers will find Lake Manyara an absolute delight, with a huge variety of birds on display in the park.
Even the novice can expect to be amazed by large flamingo flocks, circling birds of prey, and the brightly colored lilac breasted roller. Waterbirds are abundant too. We shall visit the hippo pool to catch up with these huge mammals. Wee head to Karatu in the evening for an overnight.
DAY 2: NGORONGORO CRATER / DRIVE BACK TO ARUSHA
After an early breakfast we will drive into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and down into the crater. The Ngorongoro Crater is almost 600 m deep, approximately 20 km wide and the massive caldera is home to an amazing variety of animals.
On your game drive you have the possibility of seeing all different kinds of mammals ranging from the Big Five – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard – to Grant’s and Thomson’s gazelles and mountain reedbucks. You might also see spotted hyenas, rare wild dogs and some of the more than 500 bird species of the area. After a picnic lunch in the crater and some game viewing, you will leave the crater in the afternoon and travel back to Arusha.
