Mikumi National Park is one of the most accessible wildlife parks in Tanzania, located in the southern safari circuit near the city of Morogoro. The park forms part of the larger Selous ecosystem and shares its borders with Nyerere National Park. Known for its wide open plains that resemble the famous Serengeti landscape, Mikumi provides excellent opportunities to observe wildlife in a natural and relatively uncrowded environment.
The park is home to a wide variety of animals including elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, buffalo, wildebeest, and several species of antelope. The Mkata Floodplain is one of the best areas for wildlife viewing, where animals can often be seen grazing in large numbers. Mikumi is also rich in birdlife, making it a rewarding destination for birdwatchers. Because of its convenient location and beautiful scenery, the park is a popular safari destination for travelers exploring southern Tanzania. 🦒🌿
