Mt kilimanjaro

Mount Kilimanjaro is the tallest mountain in Africa and the highest free-standing mountain in the world, rising to an impressive height of 5,895 meters (19,341 feet) above sea level. Located in northern Tanzania near the border with Kenya, this iconic peak dominates the surrounding plains and forms the centerpiece of Kilimanjaro National Park. The mountain is famous for its snow-capped summit, diverse ecosystems, and breathtaking scenery that changes dramatically as climbers ascend from lush rainforest to alpine desert and finally to the icy summit zone.

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro is one of the most sought-after adventure experiences in Africa. Unlike many of the world’s highest mountains, Kilimanjaro does not require technical climbing skills, making it accessible to determined trekkers from around the world. The journey to the summit offers stunning landscapes, unique wildlife, and an incredible sense of achievement. Reaching Uhuru Peak, the highest point on the mountain, provides unforgettable views and a once-in-a-lifetime accomplishment for those who complete the trek. 🏔️

Mount Kilimanjaro is easily accessible through Kilimanjaro International Airport, which is located between the towns of Arusha and Moshi. From the airport, travelers usually take a road transfer of about 1–2 hours to reach the mountain’s various trekking route gates within Kilimanjaro National Park.
Temperatures vary greatly depending on altitude. At the base of the mountain, temperatures typically range from 20°C to 30°C (68°F–86°F). As climbers ascend to higher elevations, temperatures drop significantly, and at the summit they can fall to -10°C to -20°C (14°F– -4°F), especially during the night summit attempt.
Mount Kilimanjaro experiences two main rainy seasons. The long rains occur from March to May, while the short rains usually fall between November and early December. During these periods the trails can be muddy and visibility may be limited, although the surrounding landscapes become lush and green.
